MLK community program and march set for Monday

The 27th annual Martin Luther King Jr. interfaith community program will be Monday beginning at the downtown square and ending at Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception.

A short program will be held at the square at 8:30 a.m., followed by the march down Broadway Avenue to the Cathedral of Immaculate Conception.

The program at the cathedral will begin at 10 a.m.. Fred McClure, director of the George W. Bush Library Foundation at Texas A&M, is the keynote speaker.

This year’s theme is “A perspective on character, color and courage in America.”

Groups wishing to attend are encouraged to bring banners and signs to participate in the march to the cathedral, according to the release. Visit www.tylertogether.org for more information or call 903-372-9791.
