Richard David Sterling Jr.
Memorial services for Richard David Sterling Jr., 80, Houston, formerly of Tyler, are scheduled for 6 p.m. Monday, Jan. 21, 2013, at Ernest Sterling Memorial Chapel, Brooks-Sterling & Garrett Funeral Directors, Tyler, with the Rev. James E. Curtis officiating. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 24, 2013, at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, Houston.
Burial will be in Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Houston, under direction of Brooks-Sterling & Garrett Funeral Directors, Tyler.
Mr. Sterling died Jan. 15, 2013. He was born May 20, 1932, in Littig, Texas, to Richard and Alberta Sterling. He received his B.A. Degree from Texas College, served in the Army and was a businessman and entrepreneur, and a member of Pleasant grove Baptist Chruch. He was preceded in death by his parents, nine brothers and two sisters.
Survivors include sons, Richard D. Sterling, Inglewood, Calif., and Darren D. Sterling, Atlanta, Ga.; daughter, Belinda Matthews, Los Angeles, Calif.; brothers, Dr. Alfonzo Sterling, Los Angeles, Calif., and Charles Sterling, Houston; and three grandchildren.
