Jump rope enthusiasts, or those who would like to be, are invited to the annual Heart Throbbers Workshop Saturday.

The event, sanctioned by USA Jump Rope, will feature guest instructors from Texas, Louisiana, Ohio, Michigan and Washington.

Students will be divided by skill level with single rope training in the morning and partner and double-dutch training in the afternoon, Heart Throbbers' coach Tracy Berg said. There also will be an adult training session.

For those who don't want to learn, but would like to watch, a show is scheduled from 3 to 3:30 p.m. Admission is free. It will feature jumpers who have performed in numerous countries.

Several of the jumpers performed at basketball halftime shows in London for the 2012 Olympic Games, at Cirque du Soleil and Cirque Dreams, as well as appearances in commercials, movies and television shows.

Hamisi Kondo, a Tanzanian orphan, will be there as the three-time East African Jump Rope Champion.

The all-day event is open to the public and registration costs $25 to participate. Lunch is included.

Registration is scheduled to run from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m.; instruction from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.; and contests from 2:30 to 3 p.m.

The event is at the Grace Community School, 3001 University Blvd., in Tyler.
