New 2.5 acre lake coming to Chandler park
Staff Reports

A new lake is under construction in Winchester Park, the Chandler city park.

The lake will cover about two and a half to three acres, City Administrator Jim Moffeit said.

The land has been cleared and stumps removed. Now workers are beginning to take out the topsoil to rid the site of roots and will start digging the pond, Moffeit said.

“We want to put an aerator type fountain in it,” he said. Moffeit predicted the lake will be finished in 60 to 90 days.

“It should be a nice addition to the park,” Moffeit said.

Texas Parks and Wildlife has agreed to help stock the pond with cat fish. It will be a catch and release pond initially, Moffeit said.

The lake is part of a park plan developed a few years ago that called for horseshoe pits, the lake, walking trails, a spray park, new pavilion and a baseball field.
