Apache Belle alumni group sets up North Texas chapter
Staff Reports

Apache Belle Gold, the alumni group of the Tyler Junior College Apache Belles, has established a North Texas Chapter.

The group will have its official kickoff at 6 p.m. Thursday at La Hacienda Ranch restaurant in Carrollton.

“All former Apache Belles living in the greater North Texas area are invited to attend,” said Ruth Flynn, TJC Apache Band and Apache Belle advancement officer and former Apache Belles director, according to a college news release.

TJC President Dr. Mike Metke will serve as host of the event, which is in conjunction with the TJC Alumni Association.

This marks the 65th anniversary year of the Apache Belles, TJC’s high-kicking, precision dance team that began in 1947.

The Belles are TJC’s goodwill ambassadors, having performed for U.S. presidents and dignitaries, according to the news release.

They have been featured in NBA and NFL halftimes, including two Super Bowl appearances.

In March, the Apache Belles and Apache Band will travel to Japan, where they will perform for U.S. military personnel stationed overseas and in Yachiyo City, which is one of Tyler’s Sister Cities.

All former Apache Belles are welcome to attend the North Texas Chapter event, which will include complimentary appetizers and beverages.

To RSVP, please contact the TJC alumni office at alumni@tjc.edu, 903-510-2588 or go to www.tjc.edu/NTX BelleGold.
