A Holly Lake firefighter was flown from a working structure fire via helicopter after being injured Monday morning.

Holly Lake Fire Chief Joe Cirasola said the injured firefighter was one of his men, but he added the man was not flown to Tyler with serious injuries, but instead began having "other health issues" while being treated for a cut hand.

"He fell while working a structure fire and injured his hand. While receiving treatment for that injury, he began having some other issues. As a precaution, he was transported to a Tyler hospital," he said.

Cirasola would not give the firefighter's name, but said the man has been battling the flu for the past several days, and he was not sure of the man's condition.

"Everyone is running half empty right now," he said.

Multiple departments, including Holly Lake, Haine-sville, Hawkins, Ogburn and Perryville, responded to the blaze in Holly Lake.
