League of Women Voters 2013 discussion calendar announced
The League of Women Voters Tyler/Smith County announced its 2013 Great Decisions discussions calendar.
Great Decision discussions are annual events and will be held each Wednesday at noon at the Tyler Public Library, Jan. 16 through March 6.
On Wednesday, Tyler Junior College professor Madeleine Ross will discuss NATO and how its agenda has evolved since its inception during the Cold War.
On Jan. 23, TJC professor Stephen Stine will discuss the “responsibility to protect,” the doctrine central to modern humanitarian intervention and when the international community chooses to respond.

The Smith County Republican Women will meet at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at Traditions Restaurant, 6205 S. Broadway Ave. in Tyler.

“Be Bold Texas” will hold a Tyler Town Hall Meeting from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at Lakeview Church of the Nazarene to discuss limiting state government and growing the state's economy.

Grassroots America – We the People will meet at 11:30 a.m. Friday at Cornerstone Church Assembly of God, 9107 Paluxy Drive in Tyler.
Brooke Terry, an education researcher, policy analyst and speaker, will discuss “Education Spending and School Choice” which will be a major policy topic for lawmakers during the Texas Legislative Session.
