A Run For Hope Benefit Barrel Race for a 2-year-old East Texas girl has been rescheduled.

The benefit, which was designed to help the family of Tiffany Wolven, a girl with multiple genetic disorders, was postponed in December because of wet conditions in the arena and again this week because of heavy rain.

Tiffany’s mother, Tammy Wolven, said via email that it was best to reschedule for the safety of the horses and riders.

The event is rescheduled for Jan. 19 at the Tyler Saddle Club Arena, a covered facility in Mount Selman.

The benefit will begin at 10 a.m. with exhibitions followed by open at noon.

Division winners will receive buckles and reserve champions of each division will receive halters, Mrs. Wolven said. A photographer also will be there to take pictures of contestants, and many items have been donated for a silent auction, she said.

Exhibitions are $5 each or three runs for $13, open 4-D is $30 and youth $20, pole open 3-D is $20 and youth $15. Mrs. Wolven said each rider will be charged a one-time $5 fee to help cover the cost of renting the facility.

People may pre-enter through Thursday.

Mrs. Wolven, in an email, thanked sponsors of prizes and silent auction items as well as everyone who has donated to Tiffany.

Tiffany was born with a skin-covered cyst on the back of her head, which was repaired at 10 weeks old, and was diagnosed with several rare genetic diseases: Arn-old-Chiari type III, which affects her bone structure; Meckel-Gruber syndrome, which affects her lungs and kidneys; and Sandifer’s syndrome, which causes seiz-ures. She also has a movement disorder.

She is listed as day-to-day, meaning she could die at any moment.

“You have to live in the everyday moment-to-moment, because one minute you can have her, (and) the next minute she can succumb to complications,” Mrs. Wolven told the Tyler Morning Telegraph in November.
