Tylerite receives 40-year sentence for store robbery

A Tyler man received 40 years in prison Wednesday for the November 2011 robbery of a South Longview convenience store.

Police said 48-year-old Alvin Lee Craig robbed a Food Fast store knifepoint in the 100 block of South Access Road on Nov. 7, 2011.
He fled but was spotted near the intersection of Eastman Road and Alpine Street in Longview before leading authorities on a high-speed chase into Upshur County where he was arrested near Gilmer, police said.
On Wednesday, he pled guilty to aggravated robbery before Gregg County 124th District Judge Alfonso Charles, who sentenced Craig to 40 years in prison. He faced up to life in prison.
