HEAVY RAINS EXPECTED IN EAST TEXAS
East Texas will be gloomy, dark and wet for most of the week.
The low pressure system over our area yesterday and today was expected to drop between 3 and 5 inches of rain, with isolated areas receiving more.
Matt Hemingway, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Shreveport said “The rain we are getting will be mostly beneficial. We are hoping it doesn't come in too quickly to cause flooding concerns.”
This system is expected to continue to bring unseasonably high temperatures for January, with today's high in the low sixties and highs tomorrow, Friday and Saturday possibly approaching the low seventies.

STERIODS ERA PLAYERS IN COOPERSTOWN?
Judgment day has arrived for Barry Bonds, Roger Clemens and Sammy Sosa to find out their Hall of Fame fates.
With the cloud of steroids shrouding many candidacies, baseball writers may fail for the only the second time in more than four decades to elect anyone to the Hall.
Results are to be announced at one o'clock this afternoon, with the focus on first-time eligibles that include Bonds, baseball's only seven-time Most Valuable Player, and Clemens, the only seven-time Cy Young Award winner.
Also on the ballot for the first time are Sosa and Mike Piazza, power hitters whose statistics have been questioned because of the Steroids Era, and Craig Biggio, twentieth on the career list with three thousand sixty hits — all for the Houston Astros.
The Hall was prepared to hold a news conference Thursday with any electees.
Or to not have one.
