Keeping an umbrella handy is a good idea, as showers and thunderstorms are expected to come down on East Texas throughout tonight and tomorrow.
Tomorrow holds a near-100 percent chance for rain, with a slight chance of severe thunderstorms along and south of Interstate-20, Adams said.
A flash flood warning for all of Smith County will in effect from 4 p.m. today until 4 a.m. Thursday, Hemingway said.
The rain is caused by a low pressure system moving across northern Mexico and South Texas into the area, Adams said.
The system will bring unseasonable high temperatures for January, with today's high in the mid 50s and tomorrow's high in the low 60s. He said Thursday's high is expected to be in the low 70s.
