The Cherokee County Republican Club will meet at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Hong Kong Buffet Restaurant, 1644 S. Jackson St. in Jacksonville.
Club officers for 2013-14 will be sworn in. Annual club memberships are $15 with $5 going toward local scholarship funds. The public is invited.

On Jan. 15, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Be Bold Texas will hold a Tyler Town Hall Meeting at Lakeview Church of the Nazarene to discuss limiting state government and growing the state’s economy.

The League of Women Voters Tyler/Smith County announced its 2013 Great Decisions discussions calendar.
Great Decision discussions are annual events and will be held each Wednesday at noon at the Tyler Public Library, Jan. 16 to March 6.
On Jan. 16, Tyler Junior College professor Madeleine Ross will discuss NATO and how its agenda has evolved since its inception during the Cold War.
On Jan. 23, TJC professor Stephen Stine will discuss the “responsibility to protect,” the doctrine central to modern humanitarian intervention and when the international community chooses to respond.
