Greater Tyler Realtors Association announces new leaders

The Greater Tyler Association of Realtors announced its 2013 officers and board of directors.

Lorri Loggins, of Cornerstone Brokerage LLC, is president while Jason Gregory, of Gregory Realty, is president-elect. John Jarvis, of Lone Star Realty, is treasurer; Claudia Carroll, of Keller Williams, is secretary; and Debbie Ezzell, of RealEdge Real Estate, is past president.

Directors include Russell Enright, RE/MAX Tyler; Andrea Lynch, Rose Capital Realty in Flint; Holly Hightower, Cornerstone Brokerage; Larry Lewis, of Lewis Realty; Carla Turner, of Omni Real Estate Services; and Alice Ann Brown, of Century 21 First Group in Lindale.


OFFICERS
The president of the Texas Association of Builders (TAB) will be present when the new 2013 Tyler Area Builders Association officers are installed Tuesday. The installation ceremony will be held during the general membership luncheon at noon at Hollytree Country Club.

Edward Earl Martin, Jr. is president and CEO of Tilson Home Corp., one of the largest custom home builders in Texas. A member of the Texas Association of Builders since 1993, Martin has given of his time to his local home builders associations, the Texas Association of Builders and the National Association of Home Builders.

New Tyler Area Builders Association officers to be installed are: President Carlton Edwards, Vice President Kerry Hamblett, Secretary/Treasurer Gary Bayless, Past President Steve Nix, and Executive Vice President Libby Simmons.

Directors (builders) are Jeff Andreason, Jason Campbell, Peyton Laughlin, Brandon Parker, Matthew Peer, Ed Thompson, Roy Williamson and Erin Wright. Directors (associates) are Jeff Cross (chairman), Max Anderson, Sheila Dixon, Shelley Flowers and Sam Oliphant.

The association also plans to announce the 2012 Builder Member of the Year and the 2012 Associate Member of the Year during the luncheon.


EXPO
The Tyler Area Chamber of Commerce is hosting the 20th annual Business Expo Thursday.

The Tyler Chamber hosts the event to give a platform to its member businesses to showcase their goods and services to other businesses and individuals in the Tyler area, Tyler Chamber Chief Operating Officer Henry Bell said.

“Hopefully this will develop new business relationships with our local businesses and individuals doing business with each other,” he said. “Thus the theory that dollars spent are kept local.”

Bell said there have been lots of success stories in the past but some of the most successful have been booth-to-booth networking and contacts.

The expo is set for 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday at Harvey Convention Center, at 2000 W. Front St.

The first expos had around 40 venders and today they have close to 150 each year, Bell said. There are a variety of vender businesses and organizations. Bell said there were around 5,000 people who attended last year and they expect close to the same this year.


LUNCHEON
Dr. Ray Perryman, founder and president of The Perryman Group, a Waco-based economic and financial analysis firm, will give his 29th Annual Economic Outlook in Tyler Jan. 17. Perryman will give forecasts of local, state and national economies at the luncheon hosted by the Tyler Economic Development Council and the Tyler Area Chamber of Commerce.

It will be held at 11:30 a.m. at Green Acres Baptist Church CrossWalk Conference Center, 1607 Troup Highway.


SUCCESS
Ingrid Klein's Texas Home Services LLC, was recognized by the national headquarters of SCORE as one of the nationwide acknowledged 2012 local “business success stories.” The recognition follows Ms. Klein being honored as the Client of the Year for the local East Texas Chapter of SCORE (Service Corps of Retired Executives).

Texas Home Services provides everything from house cleaning and lawn and garden care, house and pet sitting, to helping people pack and organize their things, doing grocery shopping, laundry, assisting with weddings, garage sales or providing elderly companionship.

Ms. Klein has expanded her business to include corporate accounts; plus opening additional locations in Nashville, Tenn., and Oklahoma City, Okla. In notifying the local chapter of the National Success Vault status, the SCORE headquarters also congratulated Leland Ferguson and Carl Bochow for providing the marketing and other mentoring assistance to Ms. Klein since she began her business in April 2011.

Success stories help SCORE reach an audience of 1 billion via national and local media and various SCORE publications. SCORE, Counselors to American Small Business, is a nonprofit association of business counselors who provide free and confidential business mentoring to East Texas area small business owners or start-ups.

The local SCORE office is located within the Small Business Development Center, Tyler Junior College West Campus, School of Continuing Studies.


MEMBER
Potter Minton announced that Daniel A. Noteware has become a member of the firm, effective Jan. 1. Noteware joined Potter Minton in 2006 as an associate attorney. He practices civil litigation, intellectual property litigation and oil and gas condemnation. He earned his law degree at Baylor University School of Law and a bachelor's degree in English from The University of Texas at Austin. He is a member of the Texas State Bar Association, the Smith County Bar Association, Smith County Young Lawyers Association and Junior Achievement.


DOCTOR
Trinity Cli­nic Gastroen­terology, Hep­- atology and Endoscopy welcomed Dr. Falguny Bhavan to its medical staff.

Dr. Bhavan is a gastroenterologist with specialized training in hepatology, wh­ich incorpor­- ates the study of liver, gallbladder, and pa­n­creas, as well as management of their disorders along with general gastrointestinal issues and women's health.

Dr. Bhavan earned her medical degree and completed her internship residency in internal medicine at the Oregon Health and Sciences University, School of Medicine, Portland. She received fellowship training in gastroenterology at Saint Louis University, St. Louis, Mo. She is board certified in internal medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology by the American Board of Gastroenterology, and is a member of the American College of Gastroenterology.

TAX HELP
The Texas Comptroller's Office will conduct a free taxpayer seminar at the Tyler Area Chamber of Commerce Genecov Room, at 315 N. Broadway Ave., from 6-8 p.m. Jan. 29.

Taxpayers can learn how to fill out tax forms properly, and file and pay taxes electronically. Information about e-services will also be available to help taxpayers manage their accounts online. LUNCHEON
The East Texas Planning Council is hosting a luncheon from 11:30 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. Wednesday at The Cascades Golf and Country Club in Tyler. Michael B. Cohen, an elder law attorney whose Dallas law firm focuses on the legal needs of the elderly and disabled, will talk about “Source Options for Long Term Care Costs.”
