Curtis Trevor Simmons, 26, of Rusk, was stopped about 8 p.m. New Year’s Eve in the Lake Charles, La. area.
Law enforcement found out he had outstanding warrants in Cherokee County and took him into custody, according to the Jacksonville Police Department.
He waived extradition and arrived at the Cherokee County Jail on Friday.
Officers attempted to stop Simmons on Dec. 10 for a traffic violation, according to a news release. Simmons allegedly fled from officers and led them on a lengthy pursuit, which ended when he jumped out of his vehicle and fled down an embankment into a heavily wooded area.
The Texas Department of Criminal Justice search dogs were called out, but the suspect was not located, according to the release. Several weapons were recovered in his vehicle after the pursuit ended.
Simmons was wanted by Jacksonville Police for evading arrest with a vehicle, which is a state jail felony.
He also was wanted by the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office on two warrants for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
