Senior groups plan sponsored trip to Tennessee

Meals on Wheels of Palestine and Dogwood Travelers will sponsor a trip to Nashville and Chattanooga, Tenn., from April 29 through May 4.

Highlights of the tour in Nashville will include visiting the Country Music Hall of Fame, a show at the Grand Ole Opry and a guided tour of the city.

In Chattanooga, the tour will include a visit to the Rock City Gardens and a ride on the Lookout Mountain Incline Railway, the steepest passenger railway in America.

A visit to Lookout Mountain will include seeing Ruby Falls, which is a 145-foot waterfall within a cave. Also included will be a ride on the Blue Ridge Railway, which is a 26-mile round trip through Murphy Junction along the Toccoa River in the North Georgia Mountains.

After the Blue Ridge Railway tour, there will be a third train ride on the Missionary Ridge Local, a part of the Tennessee Valley Railroad, an hour-long ride that passes through a horseshoe tunnel. The last event will be a dinner show cruise on the Southern Belle Riverboat.

The cost of the tour for each person with two in the room will be $1,009. Cost for one in a room will be $1,248. Cost for three in a room is $959 per person.

Included in the cost will be deluxe motor coach transportation, entry fee to all attractions and first-class lodging for five nights, four dinners and five breakfasts.

A $100 deposit is due no later than March 1 to hold a place on the tour. Final payment is due by March 10. Register before Jan. 22 and be eligible for a $50 discount of the full price.
