Tyler businessman Doug Marshall will be on the TV show “Shark Tank” on Friday, and a local watch party is forming to celebrate.

Marshall will showcase The Gameface Co. on the show on ABC from 8 to 9 p.m. Friday. An investment in The Gameface Co. by the celebrity cast will be decided during the show, and the answer is completely private until the show airs, representatives said.

In June, Marshall auditioned himself and The Gameface Co. for the television show in Los Angeles. “Shark Tank” is in its fourth season of providing budding entrepreneurs with the chance to make their dreams come true and possibly make a business deal that will make them a millionaire.

Tyler Junior College Small Business Development Center and Tyler Texas Angel Network will host a watch party from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Coyote Sam's Bar & Grille, 5424 Old Jacksonville Highway. RSVP to Don Proudfoot at DPro@TJC.edu, or call 903-920-6941 for more information.

The show was recorded last summer. To comply with the rules of the program, Marshall cannot divulge the outcome of his investment pitch prior to the show's broadcast. He is expected to attend the watch party.

Marshall works with the TJC Small Business Development Center to grow his business through the center's new angel investors group, which is a group of investors looking to help small businesses grow.

In 2008 — Marshall's first official year in business — The Gameface sold $6,500 in products. Last year, the company sold 65,000 faces for $102,000, he said.

“We created and patented the Gameface as a fun product for families and sport fans to wear at high school and college football games,” Marshall said in a prepared statement. “Then, it exploded into the costume, hunting and promotional product industries. We had no idea that after we auditioned for Shark Tank we would be out in L.A. filming and actually on the show the next month.”

Marshall created a full-face temporary tattoo with all of the detail of face paint but without the mess. Marshall started out with four or five designs and now has more than 100, he said in June.

Marshall grew up in Tyler, graduating from Robert E. Lee High School before studying finance at Texas Tech University. He works full time for Documents Solutions as its Xerox representative for the area covering Tyler to Mount Pleasant. His wife of 13 years, Lori, is a paralegal and works full time for Southside Bank and handles all of the order processing, contracts and accounts receivable and payable for The Gameface Co.
