COIN FLIP SOLVES ELECTION
The only thing that separated two city council candidates near San Antonio was a coin flip.
Jeannette "Jet" Crabb and Ben Amador were both running for city council in Seguin.
They finished tied after a December 18th runoff, 141-141.
So city Mayor Don Keil decided the race Thursday by flipping a coin.
The Texas Election Code allows ties to be settled by a "casting of lots."
Crabb won.

DEWHURST ACCUSING ADVISER OF THEFT
Lt. Governor David Dewhurst is accusing a longtime political adviser of stealing hundreds of thousands of dollars from his campaign account.
The Dallas Morning News reports that the Dewhurst state campaign committee — in amended finance reports — blamed Kenneth "Buddy" Barfield for "misappropriation of committee funds."
The campaign lowered the cash on hand reported from about Seven Hundred Seventy-Seven Thousand dollars to Seven Thousand dollars.
Spokesman Rob Johnson says authorities have been contacted.
He says Dewhurst is shocked that "a former senior trusted adviser would steal from the campaign account for his own personal gain."

For all the focus on Monroe's closeness to suspected communists, the bureau never found any proof she was a member of the party.
