Lindale senior receives award for service to community
Staff Reports

Lindale High School Senior Hannah Brown was surprised with the recipient of the R.J. Collins State Farm Insurance “Good Neighbor Award” last week.

The award is presented once a month during the school year to a student who represents the core values of Lindale High School: accountability, commitment, discipline, honesty, integrity, ownership, respect and responsibility, according to a news release from the district.

Students are nominated for the award by Lindale High School counselors and administrators.

Ms. Brown said the presentation was a shock, and she felt the most rewarding part of community service was working with small school-aged children.

“I appreciate what you get out of it,” Ms. Brown said. “I love working with little kids through PALS. Just seeing their faces, seeing them succeed, it’s such a blessing that you cannot take for granted.”

Ms. Brown said she plans to attend Texas A&M University in the fall and major in forensics and investigative sciences, according to the release. She plans to pursue a career with the CIA.

Brown has been active in basketball, volleyball, Peer Assisted Learning Strategies (PALS), Students Against Destructive Decisions (SADD), and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.

Her award was a framed certificate, a gift card to Doc’s Pizza in Lindale and a travel safety kit from Collins, the release states.
