Tyler ISD will beef up campus security Friday in light of last week’s school shooting and the discussions about the Mayan calendar.
District spokeswoman Dawn Parnell said the district has hired 25 off-duty police officers to report to district campuses and ensure that all students and staff feel safe.
These officers will be in addition to the TISD police.
“We just feel it was in the best interest of our students that their safety was taken care of,” Ms. Parnell said.
