Twin Peaks restaurant could come to ETexas

Tyler could be getting a Twin Peaks sports-themed restaurant as early as next year.
Chalak Peaks Restaurants LLC, signed a six store agreement to develop Twin Peaks restaurants in Tyler, Longview, Texarkana, Killeen/Temple, Waco and Shreveport, La. during the next several years, according to a prepared statement.
With 28 locations in 13 states, Twin Peaks is the “ultimate man-cave sports lodge” known for its rugged mountain lodge atmosphere, homemade comfort food, high-definition televisions and its “Twin Peaks Girls,” representatives said.
The Chalak Peaks group is made up of a team of experienced restaurateurs who have been involved in the industry since 1998. The group owns and operates 260 different restaurant concepts nationwide, including Genghis Grill, KFC, Taco Bell and Long John Silvers.
“This agreement speaks volumes to the brand quality that Twin Peaks is building in the industry,” Shannon Glaser, Twin Peaks’ director of franchise development, said in a prepared statement. “To have other franchisors with the talent of the Chalak group take notice and want to be a part of growing with Twin Peaks as a franchisee is quite an accomplishment. We are very excited to have them on board and know they will be excellence franchise partners.
The Dallas-based Chalak Peaks team is looking at possible sites for its first Twin Peaks restaurant in the area, which it plans to open by mid-2013, representatives said.
“These areas of Texas and Louisiana are untapped markets for Twin Peaks,” Al Bhakta, chief executive officer of the Chalak Group, said. “Fans in these towns are looking for a newer, updated sports restaurant that provides high-quality product and exceptional experience, and that is exactly what Twin Peaks brings to the table.”

Double D Ranch Grill & Bar, which has a similar theme to Twin Peaks, announced it was opening a restaurant in Tyler in 2011, but was soon embroiled in a lease contract dispute with neighboring Toys “R” Us and opposition from some community members.
A court injunction prevented the restaurant from opening as Double D Ranch Grill & Bar. Toys “R” Us, which owned the land the building was on, claimed the restaurant, which representatives called adult-themed, would damage the store’s family-friendly reputation. During the court hearing Toys “R” Us representatives called proposed uniforms worn by wait staff indecent and sexually suggestive. The female wait staff’s dress at the Shreveport, La., Double D Ranch location includes a halter top, cut-off shorts and boots, according to descriptions during the hearing.
The restaurant in Tyler changed its name to El Chico Ranch and opened in September 2011. Staff uniforms and menus also were adjusted to conform to the injunction.
