DEVOLUTION, December 19
Once again evil manifests itself in the form of mass murder. This time it’s especially repugnant because little children were the target.
And now the usual reactions will appear — the call to outlaw or strictly control guns, especially those classified as “assault weapons.” No discussion will be given to the fact that such weapons have been in existence and in the hands of citizens for more than a century, but that the egregious misuse of them is a rather recent manifestation.
Many of the same people who denounce the horrors of guns will spend time watching movies and television shows that thrive on body counts, listen to music that encourages rape, brutality and murder, play computer games that glorify death and violence. And some folks wonder what really caused our culture to devolve.
With all the emotionally, physically and psychiatrically fried brains walking the streets, it’s remarkable there isn’t more violence.
