A Henderson woman was jailed during the weekend after law enforcement officials said she drove drunk and later attacked a man with her vehicle, all while her child was in the vehicle.

According to an arrest warrant, a Texas Department of Public Safety trooper responded to a report of a disturbance at 9:14 p.m. Friday on Texas Highway 322.

A witness told the trooper that the driver of a blue Nissan pickup, Lorena Cly, 44, of Henderson, was intoxicated.

When the pickup stopped, the woman's older sister removed the child from the pickup. But Ms. Cly continued to follow the witness to a Shell gas station in Elderville at the intersection of Texas Highway 322 and Farm-to-Market Road 2011, according to the arrest warrant.

When both vehicles pulled into the gas station, the older sister removed the keys from Ms. Cly's pickup and went inside the store. The witness told officers that Ms. Cly walked up to the witness' vehicle and began to "try to smash the windows out to remove the young child."

The witness then pulled forward after Ms. Cly retrieved a second set of keys to her pickup and began to chase the witness around the station. Ms. Cly allegedly began to ram her pickup into the witness' vehicle, according to police reports.

A Lakeport police officer arrived at the scene and asked Ms. Cly to step out of her vehicle, but the woman became argumentative and physical, reports state. Two other law enforcement officials soon arrived at the scene.

The trooper stated in his report that he smelled "the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage, and (the woman had) red bloodshot eyes.

Ms. Cly is accused of failing a field sobriety test and was taken to Good Shepherd Medical Center, where a blood specimen was obtained before she was taken to Gregg County jail.

According to jail records, the woman was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and driving while intoxicated with a child passenger.
