Organizer thanks businesses for ‘stocking stuffer’ help
ROSES: To all the wonderful and friendly businesses that donated gifts to my “Stocking Stuffer” Christmas project for many of the game-playing TASCA members. I met some of the nicest people and enjoyed every visit. A special thanks to Copeland Insurance, Edward Jones, Chuck Osborn, Better Business Bureau, Squires Johnson Squires, Foot Specialists, Elite Lab, Southside Bank, Texas Home Health, Stephen Wolf, ETMC, Ables Land, Rosewood Estates, Threlkeld Insurance, TAABS, AHS Audio Hearing, Hilton Garden Hotel, Coca Cola, Best Western, Brookshire’s in Whitehouse, Right At Home Healthcare and Joyful Beginnings Lutheran Church. The project was a great success and brought smiles to many of our seniors. Thank you all. It is wonderful to live in a community with so many caring and thoughtful companies.

FAITH REAFFIRMED
RAVES: In a few days I’ll celebrate my 80th birthday, and I was beginning to feel that the world around me is becoming populated with predators.

On Sunday, all that changed.

My wife and I had breakfast at The Diner on Broadway. I was wearing my Korean Veteran’s cap to emphasize the Dec. 7 Day of Infamy. The young girl who served us was Anna, a girl in her late teens or early 20s.

Her service was excellent.

When Anna came with the check, she said, “Your breakfast is already paid. I read your cap; my grandfather also served in Korea.”

Thank you, Anna, for reaffirming my faith in people. A salute to kindness.

THANKING CARRIERS
ROSES: It’s Christmas again and time to recognize some of the behind-the-scenes people we tend to forget about. Some of these are our paper carriers who get up in the wee hours of the morning to deliver the Tyler Morning Telegraph throughout the year. Our paper carrier, Jenelle Nutt, is one of the best and our paper is delivered by 5 a.m. every morning, without fail. If we need it stopped for a certain amount of time she always remembers. She leaves a Christmas card each year with her address and we’re able to send her a well deserved gift. It would be nice if everyone would remember their carriers and send them a token of their appreciation this Christmas. Tips are always greatly appreciated.

THANK YOU
ROSES: I want to thank all of the individuals, clubs, Tyler businesses and Trinity Mother Frances employees who generously donated their time and resources to make beautiful Christmas trees for the Trinity Mother Frances Volunteers’ eighth annual Festival of Trees Silent Auction. The trees adorned the Mother Frances Hospital lobby and the Louis & Peaches Owen Heart Hospital. Funds raised from the Auction benefit the Louis & Peaches Owen Heart Hospital, Children’s Miracle Network, and women’s and children’s services at Trinity Mother Frances.

Thank you for the wonderful support, for caring for our community, and for providing joy to our patients, families and employees.
