Jacksonville Police seeking armed, dangerous suspect
The Jacksonville Police Department is asking for help finding a suspect they believe to be armed and dangerous.
On Dec. 10, officers allegedly attempted to stop Curtis Trevor Simmons, 26, for a traffic violation, according to a release from the department. Simmons allegedly fled from officers and led them on a lengthy pursuit, which ended when he jumped out of his vehicle and fled down an embankment into a heavily wooded area.
The Texas Department of Criminal Justice search dogs were called out but the suspect was not located, according to the release. Several weapons were recovered in his vehicle after the pursuit ended.
Simmons is currently wanted by Jacksonville police for evading arrest with a vehicle, which is a state jail felony, the release states. He is also wanted by the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office on two warrants for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
Simmons is 5-feet, 8-inches tall and weighs approximately 145 pounds, according to the department.
