Tyler City Council this morning voted to renew City Manager Mark McDaniel’s contact and increase his annual salary to $195,000.
The city will now roll the $10,000 per year performance bonus into McDaniel’s annual salary.
Mayor Barbara Bass, along with city council members, praised McDaniel’s leadership skills, and called him “the best city manager in the state.” Mayor Bass said that most cities now roll that performance bonus into a city leader’s annual salary.
McDaniel had declined pay increases as the city weathered some difficult economic times in the past few years, officials have said in the past.
He has more than 25 years experience in municipal management and holds two degrees, plus successful completion of the Senior Executive in Local Government Program at Harvard University.
