Arp's Hopewell prepares to celebrate anniversary

Hopewell CME Church in Arp will celebrate the 142nd anniversary of its founding with a service set for 3 p.m. Sunday, according to a church announcement.
The church pastor is the Rev. Dr. Donald Madlock Sr. The Rev. James Hawkins, pastor of Higher Heights Baptist Church in Tyler, will be the guest speaker.

BOOK SIGNING
Steve Hemphill of Gladewater will sign copies of his book “My Search for the Real Heaven,” from noon to 3 p.m. Dec. 15 at The Scroll Discount Christian Store, 2209 S. Broadway Ave., according to an announcement from the book’s publisher.
The book is a culmination of Hemphill’s research of the Bible into what heaven will be like.

First Christian Church, 4202 S. Broadway Ave., Tyler, will hold a live nativity scene from 7 to 9 p.m. today on the side of the church that faces Loop 323, according to an announcement from the church.
An annual project of the Music and Fine Arts Ministry, the annual drive-through display will include scenes depicting an angel telling Mary she will give birth to the Messiah, the “wise men’ seeking the newborn child and Mary and Joseph with newborn Christ child, according to the announcement.
