Tyler ISD Foundation to sell discount cards
After suspending its discount card sales last school year, the Tyler ISD Foundation has come up with a new fundraiser.
The Scholar Dollar Discount Card program will provide community members with savings at area restaurants, dry cleaners, oil change locations, entertainment venues and more, according to a foundation news release.
Cards will cost $10 and each one will offer 15 buy-one, get-one free deals from local businesses, according to the news release.
Cards will be sold the week of Feb. 13 to 20.
Proceeds will be split between TISD elementary school principals' discretionary funds and the foundation, the latter of which will use the money to provide for teacher grants, according to the news release.
"All money goes back into the classroom to pay for programs that are not provided by public funds," foundation executive director Larry Goddard said. "We know that government funding is limited. So, we hope to create more private donations for our campuses to provide innovative opportunities for our students."
Area businesses that want to be included in the discount program should contact Glen Hendricks at glen@giftsfundraising.com.
The TISD Foundation exists to raise funds and grant those funds to TISD teachers, campuses or the district for programs.
