Great Clips at The Ridge salon opens in Tyler
Staff Reports

Great Clips at The Ridge held its grand opening Saturday, and to help celebrate, business manager Mason McJimsey cut his long hair to donate to Locks for Love.

McJimsey is donating his hair to the nonprofit organization that provides custom-fitted hairpieces for underprivileged children with long-term medical hair loss.

“My hair has always grown really fast and straight,” McJimsey said in a prepared statement. “They tell me it will make great hairpieces. I'm just glad to be able to share my hair and hopefully bless someone in need.”

This is the first salon for McJimsey's parents, Bert and Karen McJimsey, who have been franchisees for about three years while awaiting the completion of The Ridge.

“The Ridge is such a vibrant, growing commercial area, we felt it would be an ideal location for this new business,” Bert McJimsey said. “We are so excited to finally be open and offering value-priced, high-quality hair care for men, women and children.”

As part of the grand opening celebration, haircuts are being offered at the reduced price of $2.99 for the next several days. He said the salon focuses on convenience and quality hair care service. To accommodate customer schedules, no appointments are needed and they are open evenings and weekends.

The new hair salon, at 7002 Highlands, is behind FRESH by Brookshire's and is open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and noon to 6 p.m. Sunday. Great Clips has more than 3,000 salons and some 25,000 stylists throughout the U.S. and Canada. Franchisees are independent owners and the Great Clips at The Ridge salon is not associated with any other location.
