A Jackson Heights volunteer firefighter was listed in critical condition this afternoon after a Friday night wreck.
Jalen Smith, 20, of Tyler, was with two other firefighters traveling to the station in response to a vehicle crash at Farm-to-Market 2767 east of County Road 211 at 10:18 p.m. Friday, Texas Department of Public Safety spokeswoman Jean Dark said.
Trooper Dark said preliminary reports indicate a vehicle pulled out in front of them on FM 2767, near County Road 387, and the driver rolled the vehicle several times after swerving to miss the oncoming car.
All three were taken to East Texas Medical Center in Tyler.
Firefighters Cornelius Redwine, 21, of Tyler, and Gary Robinson, 18, of Tyler, were treated and released Friday, but Smith remained in the hospital's intensive care unit.
Trooper Dark said the investigation is ongoing.
