The Compassionate Friends will have its annual candle lighting ceremony at 6:30 p.m. Dec. 9 in the Cross-roads Community Church, 13730 Texas Highway 155.
Every year they take part in the candle-lighting ceremony. They light a candle in memory of their daughter. They talk about her with others who have lost children.
They say it is the one gathering where everybody knows it is OK to talk, remember, share and comfort. There are no inappropriate comments or awkward silence.
In the Compassionate Friends’ November newsletter, a woman speaks about what it feels like to lose a child and how The Compassionate Friends helps her with the ongoing challenge of coping with loss.
“What sorrow we all share when we lose our children! Unspeakable, unshakable gripping pain.
“All of you at TCF know exactly what I say because each of you is very familiar with the agony of losing a child.”
You don’t have to be a member of The Compassionate Friends to attend the candle lighting ceremony. You just have to have compassion.
