Bullard Christmas parade set Monday

There are several ways for Bullard residents to get into the holiday spirit next week.

The Bullard Area Chamber of Commerce invites community members to take pictures with Santa Monday evening and then stick around for the Christmas parade.

Pictures with Santa begin at 5 p.m. in front of what was formerly Ră-K's Meat Market & Deli, 104 N. Houston St. The parade begins at 6 p.m.

Angela Bradberry, administrative assistant with the chamber, estimated that 500 to 1,000 people will attend the festivities.

“It's just another way for us to give back to the community and get everyone together to celebrate Christmas,” she said. “Right now, it's just to celebrate the Christmas season and get it kicked off.”

Ms. Bradberry said a lot of people have signed up to participate in the parade, including Boy Scouts, a woman who owns a pet grooming shop and a man who has a tow truck similar to Tow Mater, a character in Disney Pixar's movie, “Cars.”

Local banks also usually have floats, and band and drill team members will likely participate, she said.

Floats will be judged for most spiritual, best lighting and best overall, according to an event flier. Ms. Bradberry said winners in the float contest usually receive a plaque from the chamber.
