Police now say man died after hit by vehicle
Staff Reports

While the investigation into the Friday death of Tyler man remains open, police now say the 38-year-old was struck by a vehicle driven by a friend.

Tyler police spokesman Don Martin said the autopsy and investigation has led detectives to believe Chad Everett Davis was struck by a vehicle.

Shortly after 1 a.m. Friday, police were called by East Texas EMS about a man they were taking to the East Texas Medical Center emergency room.

EMS personnel stated the man had sustained serious injuries, and police assistance was needed. Officers responded to the scene, which was within a heavily wooded area northeast of Blue Mountain Boulevard. Responding officers secured the scene and began speaking with those present at the time the individual was injured.

During the preliminary investigation, police learned Davis died as a result of the injuries he suffered at the location.

Martin said Monday that detectives have learned that a friend of Davis, who had been drinking, struck Davis with the vehicle.
Martin said the case remains under investigation.
