Path names local nonprofit leader Grubb new director
After receiving more than 100 applications from all across the United States and one from Egypt, People Attempting to Help has named local nonprofit leader Greg Grubb as its new executive director.
“It's a great day for us at PATH,” said the Rev. Stuart Baskin, president of the board of directors. “We are thrilled beyond words.”
Grubb has more than 19 years of experience as board member and volunteer at various Tyler nonprofits, including Habitat for Humanity, Leadership Tyler and PATH. Before his time in nonprofits, he spent a 30-year career in the oil and gas industry, eventually moving up to president and co-owner of Texlan Oil Co.
“When he retired, Greg didn't just go play golf,” Baskin said.
Grubb has lived in Tyler for 25 years.
“I'm honored and thrilled,” Grubb said. “I love this organization.”
Currently, Grubb serves as the leader of weekly meals and worship services at West Erwin Church of Christ Benevolence Center and as a board member of Community Housing Development Organization.

Grubb wasn't even looking for a job when he considered applying for the executive director position, he said.
“I've had three responses from my close mentors,” he said. “'What?' 'Why?' and 'You'd be good at that job.' I knew it would be something God did if it happened.”
The previous executive director, Christina Fulsom, resigned to pursue other callings in April. Wade Klein was named as interim, and the search committee was working to find a replacement.
“Greg was chosen for a variety of reasons,” Baskin said. “He has a lot of experience and a heart for the work, and he has a proven track record and a good reputation in this city. He's very bright, articulate and thoughtful. He has a breadth of experience that other candidates just didn't have. At the end of the day, it was intuitive; Greg just felt right. Not everybody knew him — it wasn't about choosing someone everyone knew, but someone everyone trusted.”
