Singer/songwriter Martin Caine of Tyler knows what it feels like to be hungry, homeless and unsure of your future.
There was a time when growing up in the United Kingdom that he needed a helping hand.
“As a young teenager I had to move out of my family home and was homeless for a while and experienced hunger firsthand before I found my feet and was able to turn my life around,” he says in correspondence with the newspaper.
This difficult time proved to be inspiration for his new song “Alone.” In the song he encourages us all to reach out to others.
Winter is fast approaching and people out there need our help especially at this time of year.
It’s up to us to make a difference.
“I wrote this song ‘Alone’ to raise awareness of people who are in need — the homeless and the hungry — and the fact that they are not always in situations of their own making,” says Caine.
He has pledged that all the money raised from downloading the song will go to two charitable organizations that feed and shelter people who are in need.
“Having grown up in the U.K., I have been aware of the U.K. charity Crisis and the invaluable work it does for some time now. It struck a chord with me.”

After moving to Tyler in 2009, he says he “discovered the amazing work that the East Texas Food Bank does.”
Caine, who is concentrating on his solo singing career, is donating all proceeds from U.S. and Canadian downloads of “Alone” to the East Texas Food Bank and all the U.K. and European download proceeds to Crisis.
