Caldwell Arts students pull out all stops for 'The Little Mermaid'
Staff Reports

The Caldwell Auditorium was transformed into an underwater wonderland for four showings of “The Little Mermaid” musical last week.

Teachers, students and volunteers put in more than 60 hours of work building the set in preparation for the shows, according to a Tyler ISD news release.

Dozens of Caldwell Elementary Arts Academy third- through fifth-graders performed and several more worked behind the scenes during the production, according to the news release.

In addition to the actors and actresses, students in the art enrichment classes at the school helped paint the set and props.

The production was funded by a $2,500 grant from the Tyler ISD Foundation and a $2,000 donation from the Caldwell PTA.

The school also raised money for the production through sponsorships, ad sales, and donations from local businesses.
