Woman shot during Jacksonville robbery in stable condition
Staff Reports

A woman robbed late Friday afternoon in the drive-thru area at an Austin Bank in Jacksonville was in stable condition at East Texas Medical Center in Tyler, Jacksonville City Manager Mo Raissi said.

The woman was shot in the shoulder about 5:45 p.m. and taken by ambulance to ETMC in Jacksonville, and then flown to ETMC in Tyler, Raissi said.

Sgt. Daniel Franklin said Friday the robbery took place at the West Commerce Street location.

The woman was making a deposit when someone approached her car on the driver’s side and demanded money.

The woman refused to hand the money over and was then shot, Raissi said Friday. The suspect then fled the scene.

“We are still actively searching for suspects,” Jacksonville Police Detective Greg Compton said.

He declined to give a description of the robbery suspect, saying he wanted to be careful about the information released.

Compton also declined to release the woman’s name or age.
