Bad Business, November 16
Papa John’s Pizza is considering restricting the hours its employees can work to avoid the new federal requirement of providing them health insurance. According to Papa John’s multimillionaire owner John H. Schnatter, this move will save his company 11 to 14 cents per pizza. This strategy seems, at best, poorly thought out although other restaurant empires such as Appleby’s are considering similar moves. I think workers deserve better loyalty from their rich employers.
