Charity groups, East Texas Refrigeration team to collect blankets
Staff Reports
East Texas Refrigeration is teaming up with Habitat for Humanity of Smith County and The Salvation Army this winter to collect 100 new blankets by Dec. 19.
“Our blanket drives are very important to help those who are in need,” said Chantel Millin, community and corporate relations coordinator for The Salvation Army in Tyler. “Winter is often the hardest time of year for those who are homeless. We average giving out about 120 blankets a week, about 2,000 each winter, so donations from the community are so important.”
New blankets can be dropped off from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday at East Texas Refrigeration on 4700 Old Troup Highway in Tyler.
