Chandler’s annual ‘Holiday in the Park’ to feature trees

The annual Holiday in the Park celebration staged at Winchester Park by the City of Chandler will feature a new attraction of "Trees on Parade" decorating contest and exhibit.
Trees will be displayed Dec. 1 and attendees can vote for the best tree. The winner of the contest will be awarded a trophy and $100.
The contest will be open to businesses, classrooms, organizations churches and individuals, according to Chandler Administrative Secretary Shelia Haskins.
Also for the first time, the Holiday in the Park celebration will present Santa Claus, storytelling and a gingerbread house workshop.
Trees must be decorated by 4:30 p.m. Dec. 1 at the park. Participants must provide all trees, lights and decorations. Electricity will be provided.
Several other events are planned for the community celebration from 5 to 9 p.m.
Holiday music will be played and Christmas lights will be on display. Stanley McCurley's homemade chili and hot chocolate will be available while children may visit Santa at his workshop.
A photographer will take pictures of children with Santa. People attending are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets.
