Jean Dark, spokeswoman with the Texas Department of Public Safety, said the collision happened around 4:11 p.m. on U.S. Highway 80.
Trooper Dark said both vehicles were traveling east, and the ice cream truck rear ended the bus as it was attempting to make a left turn onto Pear Road.
Wayne Weese, transportation director for the district, said the bus was dropping off its last child for the day.
“There was one child left on the bus,” Weese said. “I talked to both the driver and monitor on the bus, (and) both said they are fine.”
Dark said the driver of the truck was taken to Good Shepherd Medical Center in Longview. The 6-year-old student, the bus driver and monitor were not injured.
