Mary Sue Mann
A memorial service for Mary Sue Etheridge Mann, 78, Tyler, will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2012, at 2 p.m. in the sanctuary of Pollard United Methodist Church with the Rev. Rob Fisher officiating. A reception will follow in the Parlor. Arrangements are with Stewart Family Funeral Home.
On Nov. 7, 2012, Sue passed away peacefully at her home in Tyler.
She was born Dec. 15, 1933, in Crossett, Ark., to James O. and Lyda Bayliss Etheridge. She grew up in Crossett and graduated from Crossett High School in 1951.
Sue enrolled in nurse’s training at the King’s Daughters’ School of Nursing in Greenville, Miss. While a student there, she met Don Mann, who would become her husband. She graduated as a registered nurse in 1954. Sue and Don Mann married in Crossett at the First Methodist Church in 1955.
During her nursing career, Sue earned certification as a Civil Defense Disaster Nurse through the American Red Cross. She was also certified as a College Health Nurse.
Sue and Don were active members of Pollard UMC and the Builders Sunday School class. The pastors and members of Pollard UMC, especially the members of the Builders class, provided wonderful support and comfort during Sue’s lengthy illness. Our family is most thankful to them all.
Sue is survived by her loving family including her husband of 57 years, Don Mann of Tyler; daughter and friend, Martha Mann and Lee Wheeler of Dallas; son and daughter-in-law, Frank and Deborah Mann; grandchildren, Michael Mann and wife Brittany, Mary Kathryn Mann and Austin Mann, all of Vicksburg, Miss.; sister, Joyce Troxler of Columbus, Ga.; and a large number of nephews, nieces, cousins and other family and friends.
Sue’s family would like to extend special thanks to the wonderful staff of Right at Home in House Care and Assistance, especially Sue Gagliano and David Rasco; Heart to Heart Hospice, especially Cris Overstreet, Heather Wilcox, Eddy Secrest and Judy Skelton.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made, if desired, to the Building Fund at Pollard United Methodist Church, 3030 Copeland Road, Tyler, 75701.
