Palestine man gets 13 years for driving while intoxicated
Staff Reports

Paul Armstrong, 45, of Palestine, received a 13-year prison sentence for felony driving while intoxicated from District Judge Pam Foster Fletcher, according to information released Thursday by the office of District Attorney Doug Lowe.

The sentence rendered Tuesday was recommended by Lowe’s office after a jury of nine men and three women returned a guilty verdict.

Armstrong was arrested Aug. 29, 2011 by Frankston police Officer Jennifer Moore for driving through Frankston at 64 miles per hour in a 45 miles per hour zone.

Based on the smell of alcohol, poor performance on field sobriety tests and reckless driving, Armstrong was taken to the Anderson County jail where he provided a blood sample, according to information from the district attorney’s office.

Testing performed by the Texas Department of Public Safety lab in Tyler showed Armstrong’s blood level at 0.13 alcohol concentration and above the legal limit in Texas of 0.08, the district attorney’s office stated.
