New section of Toll Road 49 opens Friday
The Texas Department of Transportation announced Segment 3A on Toll 49, which will connect Texas Highway 155 near Noonday to Texas Highway 31 between Tyler and Chandler, will be opened to traffic Friday afternoon.
Construction on the eight-mile segment began in 2009. It will be free to drivers through Dec. 3.
Segment 3B, which would connect the existing segments to Interstate 20 is under construction and slated for opening next year.
