Examiner identifies body found in Wills Point
A Dallas medical examiner confirmed the body found in a trunk north of Wills Point Tuesday afternoon belongs to a missing Greenville teenager.
Alicia Chanta Moore, 16, was last seen Friday getting off a school bus at the corner of Bourland and Walnut streets in Greenville.
She was reported missing Friday.
The teenager is shown on video camera footage exiting the school's building and safely exiting the bus around 3:25 p.m., a news release from Greenville ISD states.
“Please know we have not received any notice and do not have any evidence of predators near our schools or buses,” the release states. “That being said, it is paramount that we remember to stay alert for any strange or suspicious person ar-ound our schools and buses. Please remind your children to be vigilant as they go to and from school. Our bus drivers are highly trained to stay alert and constantly scan their surroundings.”
Don Jefferies, superintendent of Greenville ISD, extended sympathy to Miss Moore's family and friends and said the campuses have grief counselors available for students.
Van Zandt County Sherriff Pat Burnett said a construction worker found a chest-type trunk on Farm-to-Market Road 47 around noon Tuesday, and Miss Moore was found inside.
