The remains of a woman found in Anderson County last month have been identified as a Tyler woman who was once the victim of an aggravated assault.

Anderson County Sheriff Greg Taylor said an autopsy helped identify the woman as 35-year-old Deborah LeAnn Vickery, of Tyler.

He said the woman died of a gunshot wound.

Taylor said a lab in Denton also was used, and DNA confirmed the woman's identity.

Sheriff officials said in October that landowners were walking around their property at the intersection of Texas Highway 155 and Farm-to-Market Road 321 when they located what they believed were human remains.

Taylor's office, the Anderson County District Attorney's Office and the Texas Rangers are working the case.

“We don't have anyone listed as a suspect this time, and we are just following up on leads at this point,” he said.

Taylor said anyone with information can call 903-731-8421 or Anderson County Crime Stoppers at 903-729-8477.
