Diocese of Tyler receives grant

Catholic Extension announced this week that the Diocese of Tyler was awarded an $83,000 grant to promote the mission of the Church, namely to fund the purchase of a catholic campus community home at The University of Texas at Tyler.
Catholic Extension announced this week that the Diocese of Tyler was awarded an $83,000 grant to promote the mission of the Church, namely to fund the purchase of a catholic campus community home at The University of Texas at Tyler.
“We are proud to partner with the Diocese of Tyler to provide a new home for the Catholic Campus Community at The University of Texas at Tyler,” said Catholic Extension president, the Rev. Jack Wall, in a written release. “We recognize that the people of this diocese have enormous passion for their ministry and commitment to the growth of the Catholic faith. Through our strategic funding, Catholic Extension is dedicated to building faith, inspiring hope and igniting change. We are proud to assist the Diocese of Tyler in ensuring the continuation and growth of their dynamic Catholic faith community.”
The Tyler Diocese developed a campus ministry that offers daily Mass, the sacraments and spiritual guidance for college students, but needed a physical space to house their ministry, according to the written release. The home now provides a central location for the Catholic Campus Community that is easily accessible for students seeking a Catholic presence on campus.
Historically, Catholic Extension has supported the Diocese of Tyler with more than $1.2 million in the past 10 years to support its infrastructure, people and ministries. Catholic Extension also has a history of building churches, and has contributed to building or repairing 23 church facilities in the Diocese of Tyler since 1987.
