Entries are still being accepted for the “Tee Off For Tots” golf tournament, benefiting the Tyler Salvation Army’s Angel Tree program.
Hosted by the Tyler Professional Firefighters Association, the tournament is set for Nov. 12 at Hide-A-Way Lake Golf Course, said Chantel Millin, the Salvation Army’s community and corporate relations coordinator.
Teams of four will compete in a scramble format. Registration begins at 9 a.m., followed by a putting contest and a shotgun start at 11 a.m. Prizes will be given for the top three teams, closest to the pin and longest drive, she said.
Through the Angel Tree program, donors purchase Christmas gifts for children in families facing financial hardship.

To play in the tournament or to become a sponsor, visit www.salvationarmytyler.org and click on the “Tee Off for Toys” banner. Each player is asked to also bring an unwrapped toy with a value of at least $10 on tournament day, Ms. Millin said.
“This (Angel Tree) program embodies the spirit of Christmas and enables the community to become neighbors to the less fortunate among us,” according to a statement released by Ms. Millin. “But the important thing to remember is that none of these children will have presents to open on Christmas morning without the help of the community.”
