Head-on collision kills 81-year-old Lindale man
Staff Reports

LINDALE — Department of Public Safety officials identified the man who died in Tuesday night’s fatal wreck on Interstate 20 as 81-year-old Albert Singler, of Lindale.

Senior Trooper Joseph Birt said Tuesday night that two vehicles were involved in the accident, which occurred just inside the city limits of Lindale on Interstate 20 west of Hideaway, near mile marker 551.

Singler was driving east in the inside westbound lane of the highway in his pickup before colliding head-on with a Ford F-250 truck, Trooper Richard Hoover said Tuesday. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Birt said four people were in the other vehicle, a Ford truck — two men, one woman and an 11-month-old child. They were taken to East Texas Medical Center in Tyler.

The latest information released by the DPS is the driver and passengers in the vehicle were in “good” condition at the hospital.

DPS and the Lindale Fire Department reported to the scene.

The wreck blocked westbound lanes of I-20 Tuesday night, and traffic was diverted onto the shoulder.

The four passengers of the other truck were taken to a Tyler hospital and were listed in good condition Wednesday.
