Tyler Police Department secured an arrest warrant for capital murder on a Tyler man in connection with the alleged shooting death of his ex-wife and kidnapping of his four-year-old son.

Police are searching for James W. Calvert, 41, who is suspected of fatally shooting his ex-wife Jelena Sriraman, 30, and the kidnapping of their son Lucas, 4.

The arrest warrant was issued by Judge Jack Skeen and a bond has been set at $2,000,000.00.

Calvert is suspected of killing Sriraman at about noon on Wednesday at her home in the 3300 block of Bain Place in south Tyler.

Authorities are searching for Calvert who was last seen driving a grey 2004 Buick LeSaber with Texas license plates DP4G858. The suspect is believed to be traveling with his son, Lucas Calvert, 4, who was taken from the residence.

The boy is wearing blue sweatshirt, grey sweatpants and has silver caps on his front teeth.

An Amber Alert has been issued for the child.

A second child of the deceased woman was at school and is safe.

Sriraman's pastor, Larry Craig of Southern Oaks Baptist Church, said Sriraman and Calvert had recently gone through a child custody case where she was awarded custody of the children.

Sriraman graduated from Tyler Junior College with an associate's degree from the paralegal program during fall 2011, college spokesman Fred Peters said.
