TISD puts Andy Woods Elementary under modified lockdown
Andy Woods Elementary School is on modified lockdown which means the district has secured the outside of the building, according to Tyler ISD.
Students are moving from classroom to classroom as normal and will be dismissed at regular time. However, the school will follow the rain dismissal procedure.
“Tyler ISD police are working closely with the Tyler Police Department to monitor Andy Woods Elementary School because of an incident recently reported in the area,” TISD administrators said, according to a district statement. “At this time all students are safe and inside the building.”
Police have reason to believe the suspect has fled the area, according to the statement.
The priority is safety and therefore students will remain in the building until it is determine that it is safe to go outside, according to the statement.
